Prairie Moose Basset Hounds

My husband and I live on a small ranch on the northern part of the Palmer Divide in Colorado. We have an Arabian horse...that sounds so strange, I just lost my mare of almost 30 years and am reeling from the grief. I use to be MB II Arabians, and I've lost my identity along with my best friend. I have cats and geese and an Irish Setter who is 13 and an English Cocker who is 3. We have lovely trails and forest and meadows and lots of wildlife. It's a good place to teach a Basset to track. My dogs go with me everywhere, they have the run of the house as they are foremost...members of the family. I have a link to an album with pictures of our little ranch which we call Prairie Moose. Called this because of my fixation with moose. Most people have a Mastersuite, I have a Moosestersuite.

I have shown horses and dogs for many years. As far as Bassets go, I have gone to their classes at local shows, had studied many websites, many pedigrees, and have had some WONDERFUL help from some lovely Basset people. I thank them for their kindness. I know what I want in a Basset, whether it be a show pup, or a pet pup. I am very interested in pet nutrition and have strong opinions on commercial dog food, however I feed dog food, I don't feed RAW. But I read labels like crazy.

I want Basset Hounds for the rest of my life. I LOVE my English Cocker and my most fantastic Irish Setter, I cherish every day I have with him, he is my "Baby D".

I'm 53, and I am going back to where I can from...Basset Hounds...I want them to go with me everywhere, to live and play on the ranch in the secure facilities I have, where they can safely run and sniff to their hearts content. Then to sit by me at night and be loved on and sleep wherever they want. A true "DOGS LIFE".
